ARMED FORCES DAY
The first Armed Forces Day is 27 June 2009, and is an opportunity for the nation to show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, and from veterans to recruits, including all Cadet forces.

Across the country people are getting involved: communities are holding local events, businesses are showing their support through promotional offers, and to kick off the proceedings, local authorities held flag-raising ceremonies at 1030 on 22 June 2009.
In Wrexham the Council worked closely with the Royal British Legion to ensure the very first flag-raising ceremony went off without a hitch.
The Flag Raising Party came from Wrexham Platoon. They later had tea and biscuits in the Mayor's Parlour followed by a guided tour with the Mayor and Mayoress of Wrexham.
