CADSAAM 2009
Well, I have just arrived home from Sennybridge, and I am still trying to absorb the success of the Clwyd and Gwynedd Shooting team.
We entered 4 teams, 2 extras added from Powys, but what an effort by both cadets and their supporting adults.
I watched the Falling Plate, remembering we have no facility to practice in North Wales to see our B team through to the final. This was a true merged team, consisting of 3 Clwyd Cadets and 3 Gwynedd Cadets.
As we prepared for the final, the new Brigade Commander commented that this would be interesting, as he was confident who would win - not our cadets - as the opposition (CCF) spent all their time on the range.
Well the team arrived first at the 200 firing point, and then continued as they had all morning to hit all their plates and win convincingly, with the favourites still with 4 plates up, and I have still not got my voice back.
We then moved to the prize giving we no idea of the
results other than 4 of the top 12 shots were from our teams, which is a fantastic result. The Prize giving saw us pick up the LSW Team trophy, as well as the top individual LSW shot, and a number of runner up spots.
We may not have won the ACF championship overall, but this shows we will be a team to be reckoned with next year. As I have said, a fantastic effort by the cadets from across North Wales, supported by a professional adult team, well done 2Lt Andrea Durban. In my mind, all our cadets are winners this weekend, and I hope this encourages cadets from across the region to put themselves forward for next year's team, as well as the Cambrian in September.
This result also proves as I have said for a while, as a regional cadet force, we can only get stronger and better, by combining all our strengths. WELL DONE CLWYD & GWYNEDD ACF Shooting Team, fantastic effort.
